Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity

If you are as excited as we are then you know the reason is because Nintendo has dropped a new trailer. Not just any trailer, as this one showcases the supposed prequel to Breath of the Wild. It’s another Hyrule Warriors created by Koei Techmo games again, but this time giving us the same characters in Breath of the Wild, and this time they are playable. Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity.

We say supposed prequel because as with the last Hyrule Warriors games, they were not considered canon, therefore it will be interesting to see what Nintendo say this time, however we think more than likely they will be canon. The reason being is we can tell from the trailer that the events were taking place before Link and Hyrule fell to Calamity Ganon, and more than likely we can experience Hyrule, Link, Zelda and the other Champions fight for their lives in this new game.

Since it has the Hyrule Warriors title, one might expect to see more or less the same game mechanics that we saw in the previous games. To what extent will be the same is currently hard to say. Perhaps it does not matter too much, as it will have been improved upon and the game play made more enjoyable.

For anyone who has watched the trailer 100 times, or just have very keen eyes, may have noticed a few things. For one is the tiny white guardian which is seen in the main cover art. It doesn’t look corrupted as it still has a blue eye and is much smaller than the other guardians. Perhaps one of Robbie’s inventions? Speaking of the Sheikah, one is visible in a cut scene very briefly, they wear the same hat Impa does when she is over 100 years old and meets Link again. This leads us to think it is Impa in the Hyrule Warriors game and an exciting thought is that she may be a playable character.

Should this be canon, then how much does it affect the timeline? In the sense of Link becoming Zelda’s appointed knight, to becoming a member of the Champions, to claiming the Mastersword. Which we worked out using “Creating a Champion”, he would have been around thirteen at the time he got the Mastersword, plenty of time for him to become the quiet person he later reveals to Zelda as the weight and expectancy of everyone around him becomes too much.

As of time of writing, the release date for Hyrule Warriors Age of Calamity comes out on November 20 and we are all looking forward to its release.

Please let us know your thoughts on the upcoming title!
