My Rating and Review of the Show

Fight for the Fallen took place last night in Daily’s Place Ampitheater. An interesting and new layout in which to conduct wrestling, and a good standalone show. Some matches were as expected better than others. Some i felt were just a goddamn mess. which pulled the average rating a tad down.

All in all, it feels like there company is having a steady improvement in various areas that people have been critical of, and that Fight For The Fallen was a better show than Fyter Fest and Double Or Nothing, if you look at it from a strict pro wrestling perspective.

(Star Rating)”The shows rating is based on an average from the match ratings. This is calculated through having a ten star system where each star constitutes a 9.9% of the total rating. There are no half stars in this rating system, and there are no hidden ratings or attributes. In the instance a rating isnt a Complete number, the accurate number will be rounded up Down to the Closest, or up to the closest if the numbers on the other side of the comma are 50 and above.

(Example 1: show rating is 4,4. the show will be rated at 4)

(Example 2: Show rating is 4.5 The show will be rounded up to a 5)

The ratings, and whats written and expressed is strictly subjective and my opinion of what ive seen. I make no claim to be anything beyond a fan.”

SMA. Shake My Ass..

Sonny Kiss VS Peter Avalon

First Round Buy In for All Out
Decent, relatively cold match, the Librarian gimmick so far feels a little ill placed, and Sonny Kiss’s gimmick with the dancing and the shaking of the ass will take me some adjusting to for me personally, there is a definate charisma there. But it felt overbearing in comparison to the competition itself.

Priestley and Baker will be a main event in the future.

Britt Baker & Riho VS Shoko Nakajima & Bea Priestley

Tag Team Match
Going into the match I had seen Priestley and Baker compete. I had not seen Riho and Nakajima work prior to this, and in the match itself, while their work was good, the presence and work of Baker and Priestley overshadows the two japanese gals, I’ll attribute that to reputation. and the reaction from the crowd told the story. They want that match. as for this one, its alright. not one ill remember forever, but certainly an alright match.

Dr. Baker getting concussed and attempting to tag the wrong corner was unfortunate, but in this interesting world that is Pro Wrestling. That adds to the match when her and Priestley square off.

MJF is one detestable humanbeing. But so is Spears.

Joey Janela, Jimmy Havoc & Darby Allin VS. Shawn Spears, MJF & Sammy Guevara

6 Man Tag Team Match
Shawn Spears’s T shirt matches his work, fantastic. Havoc was a more technical wrestler than i had anticipated. MJF is one fantastic wrestler and a despicable human being. Guevara is smooth, Darby didnt get too much airtime, what little he got he spent well.

It has all the things for it to be a good match. but instead, beyond the dynamic between MJF and Spears, it felt like a spotfest. Spears’s finish felt like a great way to shut down all the arial action that had taken place.

Brandi beat her demon. and took a shot?

Brandi Rhodes VS Allie

One fall, 20 minute time limit.
The addition of Awesome Kong at ringside is a neat insurance policy, Allie had one hell of a frustrating night. Having to deal with Kong on the outside and Brandi’s very villainous antics in the ring. that obviously culminated in her turning villainous. there was some foreshadowing of her antics early on where she seemingly did Tessa Blanchards entrance.

This was a mess.

Dark Order VS Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus VS Evans and Angelico

Triple Threat tag team match
This match rulewise was a god damn mess. If it is a triple threat tag match, why isnt a contestant from all three teams active at the same time? is that not a nomal or conceived of formula? Then why is this even a match?

The referee was absolutely dreadful, standing completely still, not interacting with the competition. In its totality it was another spotfest, the art of making me believe you as a contestant is in pain was solidly disregarded, and in general, this felt flat and not all that interesting.

Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus are very much crowd favourites, but this was not a good exhibition for them. In my opinion. its the one thing that put this match at the rating it did.

HANGMAN NOT A 100%?

“Superbad” Kip Sabian VS “Hangman” Adam Page

One fall, 20 minute time limit.
So disregarded in fact was Kip Sabian that he didnt get his own videopackage prior to the match. Thats about as cold as possible for entering a match.

With his Elite Alligiance, Hangman was going to be the focal point of the match one way or another. and in all fairness he was. He is a great wrestler.

But come to find out so is Sabian.

Great technical exchange to kick off the match, some positions that slipped. but otherwise nice. Sabian is very fluent in his movement, i didn’t get that good of an idea how he was about making me believe he was in pain.

Good match, i felt the general pacing here was a tad slow. both guys proved to have a skill set, and could be intense, instead went much more the route of slow and methodical. it wasn’t a spot fest which was good to see.

Jericho entering at the end was a neat but halfway predictable surprise, it also put a bit of uncertainty on wether his open mic segment would go on after.

GREAT EXHIBITION OF THE AEW TAG TEAM DIVISION

SoCal Uncensored VS Lucha Brothers

Tag team match, 20 minute time limit.
Scorpio has a Suzuki sponsorship apparently. and also, the break in the action to just showboat didn’t need to be there. Its cool to show off a little. But not in collaboration midway in the match. Daniels as a non competitor in this match landing shots on the guys under normal circumstances could incurr a disqualification, thats clearly not something AEW has in here.

Lucha brothers have an incredible ring awareness, and skillset as a team, it was a privilege to see the work they did. The show off spot in the beginning took a bit away from it for me, but otherwise a very good match.

Match of the night.

Kenny Omega VS CIMA

One Fall, 30 minute time limit.
Match kicked of very nicely, quick pace, and no bullshit between the two. Pace slowed down in a logical way. it turned fantastic match as the false finishes started kicking in, and the speed picked up again. great work on both guys end.

Well Played

The Young Bucks VS Cody And Dustin Rhodes (The Brotherhood)

Tag team match, 1 hour time limit
Its always good to see tag team wrestling get a main event of a big show. And today was no different.

Nick Jackson, while very much in the flippy floppy category of wrestlers, shines in this contest with his relatively cocky way of going about the match. audible “See ya’s” as he lands a move. The funny spot of asking Dustin to tag him in and getting absolutely socked for it.

Matt Jackson is a great at conveying his emotion in a believable way, showing he is in agony as the Rhodes brothers thoroughly tortured his arm. While he and Nick are a great tag team, Matt and his work has me intrigued what a singles run would look like for either of them.

Dustin looked like he was having fun getting to call some of the action in the ring. As was clear here and there when the camera panned over, and he was staring at the bucks getting a call in. beyond some of that, Dustins work is great and should not by any stretch be disregarded if he decides to keep his career going.

Cody is one of the biggest stars in pro wrestling today. Period. the matches he has had since double or nothing, he is for my money really coming into his own, and Wouldnt be surprised if he cracks the top 5 or 3 of the PWI500 with the performances he has put in this year.

While the competitors had a good outing, the mirror wrestling, where both pairings did the same moves in sequence took away from the action for me. Had there been a smaller quantity of that, perhaps the rating would have come out differently. But thats what i felt i got out of it.
