So this sucks..

It’s with a little bit of a heavy heart I have to say this. But just as I am about to start my good and proper deep dive into content creation and podcasting and such. As if on cue, life has thrown me a bit of a curveball.

My MacBook, my trusted, my dearly beloved, my partner, my best inanimate friend for 7 years. Has finally drawn its last unassisted breath. It will start, it will run for a couple minutes. Then its as if it goes into cardiac arrest. It slowly stops its process, it screams for breath for a sec, and then all that moves is a mouse. nothing engages, nothing works. And it feels almost like what I imagine its like to take your dog to the vet, not knowing whether this is it or not.

There is the hope that it can be fixed, and not cost me my entire student fund. But it remains to be seen. While this could be outright heartbreaking, this could mean a lot of my files would be gone, this could mean that I have to part with money for a device that potentially is better or worse.

Even so, much to my surprise, I’m actually happy.

Prior to this macbook, I had 2-3 PC’s they lasted all about a year each, because they weren’t nearly as reliable as they should be for the prices that were paid for them.

So when I started studies in 2012, I figured, i’m going into graphic design, I’m going to need something good and reliable, looked up some computers, and found the 15 inch MacBook Pro. Stupidly expensive, but one of the industry standards. Serendipity is weird in that not all that much later, I got a discount code sent to me by a service connected to the studies.

I specced it out a little extra, and received the thing in August 2012. And ever since. Its been the most reliable piece of technica I have ever owned. While the studies didn’t pan out for more than 6 months at the time, The Mac has been the ultimate learning and organising tool for me ever since, and created so much for me that I have surely forgotten half of it.

I have made music videos, damn near every piece of graphic design I ever made, I learned photoshop, illustrator, Indesign, Videoediting, Sound engineering, game design, web design, and evolved from an amateur in paint.net into a full on content creator, using only that one machine, and today enquired wether I want to get certified with Adobe, and people in various media fields praising the work I do, across graphic design, video, and audio.

I’m not a materialist, so with it now being broken. Im not shedding tears that i’m without a personal computer. but rather, I am damn proud to look back and think about all the things Ive done and accomplished with that machine. Its kept me fed, employed, and entertained, day in, and day out, for 7 years. Odds are it can be fixed, most likely.

However. It means that the long awaited debut of my personal Podcasting ventures, and me big foray back into youtube will have to put on hold until I have a solid solution in hand. I am but one person on this website and with the vast majority of content on my website, its just me that produces and publishes.

So that part sucks because i’ve actually been putting a lot of time into recording things and tinkering to find a setup and format I like and was really just about to pull the trigger when this happened.

Actually.. I said my foray into youtube is halted… no it isn’t now that I think about it. Because ya boy has a mobile phone. On which I can record stuff with my various cameras, plug in my card reader, and edit on the spot.. Technology is amazing isn’t it?! Ill let you know when and what to expect soon enough. But with the Mac being as it is, hat means if im a bit slow on blogging and bringing content, know that im trying and working to get stuff sorted as fast as I can!

Thanks for Reading!

Kornelius

PS: This halt should not impact the publishing of the two other announced podcasts, from EdoNinja, and Joshua Dodd. which we hope to be rolling out before the end of the year!
