Thank you Taya Valkyrie And Chris Van Vliet

So apparently, i am not the only one who would like the wrestling media to be more factual and less bullshit. And I would personally like to commend Taya Valkyrie, the longest reigning Impact Knockouts champion ever on her efforts in social media on calling out the wrestling churnalists on their bullshit.

Credit where it is due on this occasion, the long standing rumour that Adam Copeland, Edge was returning to the ring at the royal rumble. came to be absolutely true, and good for you and good for us. But with it intended as a surprise, i was preconditioned, and it got no much more than a grin from me when i saw the video with his magnificent return.

Thats the one upside that the churnalists have managed to get right ahead of time in recent times.

The next in line story in this case though, where they have gotten it wrong, they grasp at straws to get a story, and don’t do any particular digging themselves, is Taya Valkyrie. Where it was written by Mike Johnson, who had got it from one of his nameless faceless insiders in the clandestine wrestling business, that she had resigned to impact. “Wera Loca” was quick to dispell this and deliver a well earned “Fuck you” in his general direction, stating she hasn’t resigned, because she still has another year on her contract.

And in a point that i seriously feel is the most important part of this, and why i’m even writing another one of these pieces. Taya wrote and exclaimed that it truly isn’t anyones damn business what she makes or how long she is signed to work where she is.

She is completely right. There is not a single damn reason anyone needs to know, or publish how long and how much someone is working for anywhere, thats common values that i’ve had instilled in me since i was a kid. so why is that okay to publish?

You want to know a prime example of what the wrestling media should be, how it should function to be fantastic. Chris Van Vliet. The basic premise of, book an interview, come prepared with questions, travel and conduct the interview face to face with the individual. and then publish the interview in its entirety to whatever platform you represent. or write features on that material, its a principal thing for getting information. this reliance that this branch of media has on unknown sources that actually aren’t the actual person in question, it has to go. because one outlet will write a thing, then every other outlet who practices this journalism will treat it like a reuters press release, and copy paste the entire thing to their platforms, clueless of whether the material actually can be confirmed or not.

This shouldn’t be a six degrees to Kevin Bacon system, with this culture booming as it is, interest is high, consumption is massive, and there is an influx of mediums to produce the content. The standouts are the ones that do it right, and Chris Van Vliet fits that bill, he is a journalist, not a churnalist, he is a source, a key player in the space, and exactly what the content creators should strive to be doing. Every outlet that might stumble on this post will know this to be true based on the fact that anytime CVV does an interview these days, there are stories written on the wrestling sites.

So thank you Taya Valkyrie, honest as the day is long, that you called them out on their bullshit. And thank you Chris Van Vliet, for being an exemplary pro wrestling journalist.
